The yearling bull sales are mere weeks away and within this email we’ve provided educational resources to help you make educated bull buying decisions. Don’t leave it to chance, and don’t reply on what your eyes tell you on sale day — the EBVs are there so use them!
It’s also good to be aware of the accuracy of the EBVs in sale catalogues. Many stud breeders do not weigh their calves at birth or record calving ease and this will be reflected in the EBV accuracies (e.g. 50% for non-weigh accuracy vs 70% for those that do weigh). The use of genomic testing such as HD50k also greatly increases the accuracy of EBVs in young bulls.
